πŸ‘

Empower UX capability and Data Platform updates

Overview

This release introduces role-based access controls (RBAC) in your Empower deployment. Administrators in your deployment can define user access levels on an environment, organization, or enterprise level of granularity. There are additional self-service data sources now supported for data acquisition!

  • Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) Enforceable: A brand new access control feature for Empower to enable fine grained control of your deployment. Ask your delivery manager to enable RBAC enforcement when you're ready to test your newly configured access controls.
  • New Data Connectors: With 22 full self-service data sources now supported by Empower, you can easily integrate them into your data estate from the UI. Connect, explore, and unleash your data's full potential!

What's New

RBAC controls will enable your administrative team to enable or restrict data movement access. You can now configure and schedule data movement from any delta table in your lakehouse to SFTP, where your data can be automatically converted into CSV, TSV, or parquet file formats.

  • RBAC: Your administrators can now access levels on users in v1.19! Users may be granted different degrees of access, depending on your needs. RBAC controls are not mandatorily enforced in v1.19 and are off by default. Ask your delivery manager how to turn on RBAC enforcement. (see the Notes section below). Our published documentation explains how to define these roles.
  • New Data Sources Available: Your deployment now enables you to self-service configure 22 data sources. New sources include: Google Analytics/Ads, Facebook/Meta Ads, Workday, Workday Reports, and Guild Quality

Notes

  • RBAC will be a phased release, with enforcement being enabled over time:
    • V1.18: RBAC is introduced, allowing role assignment; but rules aren't enforced.
    • V1.19: RBAC rule enforcement may be feature flagged, defaulting to off.
    • V1.20: RBAC rule enforcement may be feature flagged, defaulting to on.
    • V1.21+: RBAC rule enforcement is required and can't be turned off.
  • Configuration Migration originally a planned v1.19 feature, has been moved to a future release of Empower. We strive to provide a delightful user experience, and while we work to create that for Config Migration, we will continue to provide regular updates on our progress
